Lavender v. Skilled Healthcare - Notification and Updates

Michael D. Thamer, one of the co-lead attorneys representing plaintiffs in the historic class action suit against Skilled Healthcare Group, Inc. and related affiliates, along with Christopher Healey of Luce, Forward, and Timothy Needham and Michael Crowley of the Janssen Firm, recently obtained the largest jury verdict in the United States in 2010, and the largest ever against a nursing home chain in the action entitled Lavender v. Skilled Healthcare Group, Inc., et. al, Superior Court of the State of California, Humboldt County, Case No. DR060264.

On July 6, 2010, the jury returned a verdict in excess of $650 million dollars in phase 1 of the trial. Thereafter, following long and sometimes acrimonious settlement discussions, the matter settled. On September 10, 2010, the court granted preliminary approval of the settlement.
